03:39 pm This journal started as a way for my friends and family to see what I was doing as I trained for my first Ironman. Hello? My user name is "traininglog". That ought to be a hint. Nearly 5 years and nearly 5 Ironman triathlons later, I'm still writing mostly about my training. I post the occasional-to-rare protected entry that is unrelated to swim/ride/run, but not often.
It may come as a suprise to people who only know me through Live Journal, but I am a fairly well-adjusted, well-rounded balanced person. I do give you the occasional tidbit: faithful readers know that I love Mac, I lust after Dr. House, I'm self-employed, I spend a lot of time cooking (there are brownies in the oven, but they aren't for me), my son's tattoo makes me cry (not because he got a tattoo, but because he put thought into it and it makes my heart hurt), and I enjoy evenings at the Paramount. Ironman doesn't consume my every waking thought. Training doesn't rule my life. It is, however, what I'm most comfortable putting in a public journal.
I have no way of knowing who reads this journal. I only recently found out that I accidentally hurt someone's feelings with an entry. Maybe it has happened more than once, but I certainly hope not. I wish more people would comment if and when they stop by. My journal accepts anonymous (non-lj user) comments, which I haven't had a reason to regret... yet.

Make the call. Internet banking. No, wait, that was the other thread. I was just curious, whether, with merely a fortnight to go, your every waking thought wasn't of CDA. I wasn't questioning your well-roundedness ;-) Anyway, I'm getting nervous on your behalf so you can remain focused on Mac, House and brownies.
I knew what you meant. It just got me thinking about the impression that my journal might leave. And please. It's not a fortnight. It's 17 days, 13 hours, 44 minutes. Not that I've been checking or anything...

a certain dinner years ago at Buca in the Pope Room where you and Mr. traininglog called me effendi across the room and I was like, oh wait, that's me!
Ironman's overall been a good influence in my life I'd say.
A fond memory of mine is Gulf Coast 2003. You lei'd me, and my mom asked "Oh! Is he the bird?"

Hi Amy,
This is RachelK from CR. You had put this link in some post you did and I will read this log every now and then. I only know you through the internet but being a Texas gal (like myself) and following you on IM live (my first time *watching* someone I knew do a IM) complete Florida I have always had a soft spot for you. So I will check on you every now and then and see what you are up too. Your workouts are inspiring to me and you seem like such a nice person. So I thought it perfect to respond to this post as you probably do have people that stop by but never post. Really I wasn't sure I could even post.
Oh, and on a side note I signed up for my first IM ~ Florida this year.
So I guess after posting once I should comment more often now. :)
Hi Rachel! Start a livejournal! We can be lj-friends. I would love to "watch" you train for IM FL!
Best wishes~ Amy |
