Looking for some inspiration, I found a journal entry from 2004. I still like it.

Theodore Roosevelt, 1910

I'm finding great strength currently in reminding myself that when I'm out there, I need to remember to enjoy the experience. And not say "Man, I wish I was done (with the swim, with the bike, with the run, with the event)."

Just soak in the whole experience and smile at every person I can and truly be present in each moment. Even if that moment isn't ideal, it's still part of the whole experience, and that's what I've been training for, is the whole experience, no matter what comes of it.

I find if I do too much visualization, my butt starts to hurt in a "visual yourself having ridden your bike for 6 hours and not being done yet" sort of way. :)
