Typing w/ 1 hand

The break was in middle of hand, not finger. However it was finger flopping that was easiest to see w/o xray

"home" (hotel) from surgery.   Since it was diifferent dr, he wanted to do different pocedure, which I think is actually better.  Instead of incision on top of my hand (scar!) and permanent pin, he went in thru the side with a different kind of pin (2 actually) that will be removed in about 3 weeks.

The nurse let me have coffee & jam toast in recovery!!!

Drugs r good.

Thank you, all of you, for your kind words.  Now I sleep...

Wow! Going in through the side of your hand! That sounds so much better. You never really see the side of someone's hand, especially your own. (Unless you get jam on it.)

Did they put a cast on it?

holy cow woman you are mighty tough. i need clarification as to how your lovely hand got broken! is this your writing hand or the hand you use for balance? see i use my right hand to write and the left isn't good for anything. once i had hand surgery on my right hand and the left hand was useless. wiping one's hiney with the other hand is a lesson not to be learned by an adult - i could go on but i won't.
come home soon and have breakfast with me..i'll buy you jam & toast and you can tell me how i'm going to rock CdA next year...i registered.
pop a pill for me too. crabby

I broke the same bone when I was in jr. high. So now we have even more in common.

Mine was from dropping a piece of firewood (oak) on it after a fall. The break was obvious because the bone was kind of sticking up a bit. Gruesome.

I'm glad to hear things went well!

Did they use those pins with a ball on one end that look like they belong in a giant pincushion? I ask because a friend at work currently has one of those straight down his left ring finger. Every time I see it, I have an urge to remove it for him... but I think it comes out in a few days, which is good.

U R 1 Hell of a tough woman!

I heard via AWDAT and didn't think it was you they were talking about. I figured they had to have it wrong.

I'm so sorry; it sounds so painful. When you are home home let me know when you feel up to lunch.

helllllo Amy Hard-core badASS!!! I was following you on ironmanlive.com, which had crappy coverage, mizmizuno-live.com was much better. :) I am sooo impressed and proud of you for sticking it through and finishing that ironman you worked so hard for. your run was AWESOME! you spanked it!

so check it out, you get hardware from your ironman. hehe, snork snork. good thing it's removable hardware! then you won't have to set off the metal detectors in the airport... anyway again, congratulations and you are by far, superhero for the week! month! year! I present you the cape!

The Little Amy That Could

(Link)
At the workout last night, Jamie ran down the TxFe achievements of the weekend (which were many and accomplished). He presented yours with heartfelt wonderment and admiration, as the triumph of the day. Everyone gasped, clapped a standing ovation in amazement.

And so the legend of The Little Amy That Could begins ...

So ... (as they say after barroom brawls) "you should have seen the other guy": if you punched someone hard enough to break your hand, how did the recipient of your blow fare? ;-)

Recover well, enjoy some R&R,

Awed,
~Mark

smooches and squeezes from Twinland

Oh Amy! I feel so guilty for just now checking up on you!! I'm guessing your hand got broken during the swim?? I can't believe you finished an Ironman with a broken hand!

Take your meds as scheduled...don't let them out of your system because it is impossible for your body to play "catch up" with pain meds. I wish I were there to take care of you! I'm sure Gary is doing a fine job though.

Lots of hugs and smooches from Twinland!

Somehow I managed to not hear about the hand until I got back here to Austin, but then again I didn't see much of anyone before heading home.

Congrats on the race and finish, and best of luck healing! I am in awe.
